The Somerset Training Hub supports the development, wellbeing and long-term sustainability of primary care teams across the county. We help practices and Primary Care Networks (PCNs) plan for the future, strengthen their workforce, and access practical learning and development opportunities that make a real difference.
What we do
Primary Care Training Hubs were created to bring a more coordinated, system-wide approach to workforce development. In Somerset, our role has evolved beyond supporting individual learners: we work with practices, PCNs and system partners to understand local needs, build capability and create the conditions for effective, collaborative neighbourhood working.
We help teams:
Build a strong and sustainable workforce
Access targeted training, apprenticeships and development pathways
Strengthen leadership and team-based skills
Develop new ways of working across neighbourhoods and multidisciplinary teams

Apprenticeships and “apprenticeship-plus” pathways across clinical & non-clinical roles

Team-based coaching for PCNs and neighbourhoods (running to spring 2026)

Action Learning Sets for peer support and reflective practice
Innovation and learning spaces for improvement and collaboration
